The FGDP (UK) goal is promoting standards in General Dental Practice and this is central to our efforts in the Yorkshire Davison.
We are very proud to host nationally run Faculty courses – both the Implant Diploma held at the Leeds Dental Institute and the Certificate in Health Services Leadership and Management; modules of which are held at the White Hart Hotel in Harrogate.
The Yorkshire Division also runs two Study Days per year and details can be found of forthcoming events on this website.

The MJDF Course we run has had an extremely successful first year and my sincere thanks go to Richard Frost and his team of Tutors for their efforts for and on behalf of Students. We still face challenges as the National Faculty move to a system of local marking, but I am confident we will deliver a fair and robust system to help candidates within Yorkshire achieve the success they deserve.
In Yorkshire, we believe strongly in the importance of “the team” in delivering high standards of care that our patients’ demand and rightly deserve. We encourage all members of the team to be involved in education and welcome all to our Study Days. I encourage all members of the Dental Team to become empowered with the education that is available, both locally and nationally.
In addition, may I draw your attention to the Career Pathway that is now available for Dentists within General Dental Practice.
Young Dentists now have the ability to choose a Pathway leading to a Fellowship in General Dental Practice. This will benefit Dentists, Patients and Practices alike. It should lead to greater satisfaction and motivation, and I believe, will enrich the professional life of the Dentist throughout their career.
I recommend all Dentists look at the National Faculty website for more information on this, at www.fgdp.org.uk.
Finally, at whatever stage of your career you may be, please do get involved with the Faculty. You are very welcome to come along to Study Days and should you have any thoughts, comments or feedback or if you have any particular educational events you would like to see run here in Yorkshire, please do get in touch.
With Regards
Mark Willings
Director Yorkshire Division
The Yorkshire Division of the Faculty of General
Dental Practice (FGDP) aims to bring together
members of the dental team who are committed to
improving standards of patient care in general dental
practice, establishing evidence based standards
in primary dental care, providing a career pathway
, promoting the importance of practice based research
in primary dental care.
The FGDP (UK) Yorkshire Division has a great team of
dedicated practitioners who give up a significant
amount of their spare time to develop the faculty
in our region. Together we are determined to continue
to improve both the variety and nature of the post
graduate education we have to offer our members. |
